Fish Class

The Fish is a gaff rigged sloop designed in 1919 by Rathbone DeBuys of New Orleans. The design was established to stimulate the waning sailboat racing scene along the Gulf Coast. The class served its purpose well as the Gulf Yachting Association inter-club racing class from 1919 to 1969 when it was replaced by the fiberglass Flying Scot. The Fish Class Association as it now exists is located at Buccaneer Yacht Club in Mobile Alabama. Eight boats are wet sailed at the BYC harbor and one by one they are being refitted. There is a 4 boat fleet on Tampa Bay and a few boats sprinkled along the Gulf Coast.
